Sustainability & CSR

At JF Hillebrand, we are fully committed to ensuring best practice in corporate social responsibility and have been communicating about our progress through the UN Global Compact since 2011.
Through our Sustainable Development Programme, we undertake numerous activities to lower carbon emissions and embed sustainable best practice across the industry.
Our goal, by 2025, is to reduce CO2 emissions per container by 45% from 2008 levels. As of December 2017, we have reduced our carbon emissions per container by 24%, which is over half way to achieving our goal.
We have made significant strides in expanding our Flexitank recovery and recycling programme. Our Flexitanks are 100% recyclable and we currently recycle 65% of all Flexitanks used for the top 12 wine import markets. Our goal is to reach 100%. In the UK, we have already achieved this. Additionally, throughout our global network, we recover, refurbish and reuse the steel bulkheads that are used to keep a Flexitank in place during transportation.
In 2017, our Sustainable Development Programme was recognised in a series of awards:
global measures to reduce carbon emissions.
> Environment Award, Lloyds Loading Global Freight Awards, along with Freightliner for our Flexitank
   recycling programme
> Drinks Business Green Award for Best Logistics and Supply Chain Green Initiative of the Year
